What is Colostrum?
- It has been called life’s first food, a thick, yellow substance that is produces towards the end of a female’s pregnancy and is emitted by her mammary glands during the first 72 hours after giving birth.
- While humans produce small amounts of colostrum, a cow produces approximately nine gallons during the first 36 hours after giving birth. Each drop contains the promise of life: immunoglobulins (Ig), growth factors, antibodies, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, and other special substances designed to “prime” the body to face a lifetime of invasion by various microorganisms and environmental toxins bent on destruction.
- Research has shown that colostrum from dairy cows (bovine colostrum) is very similar to human colostrum and is a safe alternative. Infact, it has been reported that bovine colostrum is up to 40 times richer in immune factors as compared to human colostrum.
DOCTORS AND RESEARCHERS WARN: Killer Bacterial and Viral Diseases Spreading Like Wildfire
...
Thankfully, colostrum helps with this growing problem in three important ways. First, research studies have shown bovine colostrum has the ability to protect from infection and provide passive immunity to E. coli and rotavirus (the leading intestinal killers) Second, its immune factors (immunoglobulins, etc.) greatly strengthen our body’s natural defenses to virtually all disease- causing bacteria and viruses. Third, colostrum contains lactoferrin, which has been shown in numerous research studies to be a potent, broad-spectrum natural antibiotic and anti-viral agent (pharmaceutical antibiotics have no effectiveness against viruses). In fact, in a recent study in The Netherlands, lactoferrin proved a powerful inhibitor of the HIV-1 virus, the main virus which causes AIDS.

Fighting Scleroderma: One Woman’s Story
"Within days of my starting to take Colostrum, the swelling in my hands decreased. Also, my joints and muscles were not as achy and stiff, the elasticity returned to my skin, and my breathing began to return to normal. I said to myself, “This is really working!” For the first time, I could go up and down stairs without the terrible pain I had become used to. I could get in and out of the car and not experience excruciating pain. It was simply amazing – a true Godsend! I couldn’t believe what was happening to me. This was a complete turnaround. I was so excited that I began telling everyone I know – relatives, friends and my hair styling clients – about colostrum..."
Colostrum and Gastrointestinal Health
Scientific studies have proven that colostrum helps heal the increased permeability of leaky gut (Prosser 2004) and is anti-inflammatory (Goldman 1986; Murphey 1993). Other studies have confirmed that colostrum heals damaged intestinal lining (GI Inflammation and Repair Group 2003). It also is bactericidal to H. pylori, the leading cause of ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract (Korhonen 1995). And finally, colostrum has been clinically shown to heal the damage caused by NSAIDs in the intestinal tract (Playford 1999; Playford 2001).

IRM – IMMUNE RESPONSE MODULATOR Clinically Proven Immunomodulator and Anti-inflammatory
Colostrum, nature’s first food, contains an amazing variety of immune factors, growth factors and nutrients that help the newborn get a healthy start in life. What science has also discovered is that the ingredients in colostrum are also good for grownups (including children). It can help heal stomach and intestinal linings damaged by pain medication, alcohol and soft drink consumption, poor diet, stress or environmental toxins. It can help keep our immune system running at optimal levels, which is especially important in today’s stressful world with new drug-resistant diseases appearing and a worsening environment. For example, a recent Italian study showed that supplementation with whole colostrum was more than three times as effective as immunization in preventing the flu in both normal healthy subjects and high risk cardiovascular subjects (Cesarone, et al, 2007).

Allergies: What are they and how do I get rid of them?
Researchers at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, determined that bovine milk and colostrum contains antibodies directed against ryegrass pollen, house dust mites, Aspergillus mold and wheat proteins, which are common allergens to humans (Collins op cit). Many additional antibodies are present in colostrum which cross-react with allergens of importance to humans, as well as antibodies against pathogenic invaders, such as E. coli, Candida, H. pylori, salmonella, and many others.
The IgE (immunoglobulin E) and IgE inhibitors found in colostrum is thought to be responsible for regulating the allergic response (Milgrom 2002). It is believed that together they inhibit the allergic response by limiting the histamine response.

Dr. Joel Jabile Conducts Igco Colostrum Lecture for Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines (AMHOP)
| On February 21, 2009, Dr. Joel Jabile, the Medical Consultant of SNI Philippines, conducted an IgCO Product Presentation among the members of Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines (AMHOP). AMHOP is an association of medical doctors working as health officers in different municipalities of the Philippines. The venue of the said event was in Regent Hotel in Naga City, Bicol. About fifty members of AMHOP attended the seminar. During the seminar Dr. Joel Jabile discussed the health benefits of IgCO Colostrum and the role of medical doctors of introducing the natural way of prevention and treatment of illnesses particularly infectious diseases. The role of IgCO colostrum functional beverage as an alternative to drugs for the treatment of arthritis, infections, senile dementia, insomnia, etc, was very much accepted and appreciated by AMHOP members. In fact one the doctors signified fer intention to become a mobile stockist. The leader who organized the seminar is Ms. Arlene Pinpin, one of the center stockists of SNI Philippines. | |
